technical comment
Beethoven did not envision a bravura work for virtuosos when he wrote his Violin Concerto; instead it is a dialogue between soloist and orchestra. In contrast, the 'Kreuzer' Sonata is notorious for its technical difficulty and demands a highly-charged concertante treatment. To find a fresh approach to each of these two masterpieces, Isabelle Faust has teamed up with an ideal partner: conductor Jiri Belohlavek leading the Prage Philharmonia in the Concerto and Alexander Melnikov at the piano in the Sonata.
