Mezzo-soprano Isabelle Druet was voted 'Vocal Discovery of the Year' at France's Victoires de la Musique Classique awards in 2010 and won second prize at the Queen Elisabeth of Belgium International Competition in 2008. For her first recital disc, Druet has chosen a program of French mélodies with nocturnal themes. The anchor of the collection is Berlioz's Nuits d'été, performed in its original version for voice and piano. Druet and her accompanist Johanne Ralambondrainy complete the program with works by Fauré, Hahn, Halphen, Massenet & Poulenc. In an unusual twist, Druet asked actor Christian Pageault to join her as narrator, reciting some sections of the poems.
