The text and music of Dov Seltzer's Requiem, which follows closely the deeds and tragic death of Yitzhak Rabin, has become a hymn to peace and understanding and a statement against violence and war. Although parts of the text are taken from Hebrew prayers, Hebrew literature and the Bible, Lament for Yitzhak is a secular work. In the Hebrew religion, the tradition of the requiem does not exist, thus the five movements of the work follow the musical form of the Catholic mass. The Hebrew prayers used in this context parallel the Christian texts. A 69-minute bonus DVD is included and the disc features a track with the voice of Yitzhak Rabin reading excerpts of three of his most important speeches.
