Sibelius' only violin concerto was completed in 1903. On this original Everest recording, violinist Tossy Spivakovsky is accompanied by Tauno Hannikainen conducting the London Symphony Orchestra. Another Bert Whyte sonic triumph recorded on 35mm film, the disc also includes Sibelius' last tone poem, Tapiola. Remastered for Classic Records by Len Horowitz and Bernie Grundman, the recording was transferred directly from the original 35mm magnetic film for maximum sound quality. The set includes both a standard CD and a dual sided DAD 24/96 - HDAD 24/192 combo disc.
