Ten years after a Schubert disc recorded in the ‘New Musicians' series, this double album celebrates a British pianist at the peak of his artistry and in his genre of choice. It is no coincidence that Paul Lewis has made a speciality of the sonatas of three pianist-composers: Beethoven (of whose complete sonatas he has made a memorable recording), Schubert of course, and finally Liszt, a performance that returns to the catalogue thanks to this reissue.
