Chilean guitarist Alvaro Bello's mission is to create a bridge between jazz and Latin American music. His music incorporates Chilean and South-American elements such as the trutruka (a traditional mapuche instrument), Indian Mapuch songs and rhythms such as the Lando and the Cueca. It's a unique and personal style of jazz, rich and spicy and clearly influenced by Pat Metheny and John Scofield. ¿Y Que Paso? follows on the critical success of Bello's 2006 album Melaolegria (Night & Day). Its 14 tracks explore new ground and continue Bello's quest to create a unique blend of Latin jazz for the new century.
